The Daily Oswald

Taken from March 26th, an excerpt from My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers.

"If the spiritual bloom of our life with God is getting impaired in the tiniest degree, we must leave off everything and get it put right. Remember that vision depends on character—the pure in heart see God." (Ref. Matthew 5:8 "Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God.")

I thought this was so compelling and insightful! How many times have you met a person and thought, "Wow! They have such vision?" I know I have met a few people like that. And if their vision is good and pure, have you ever thought that perhaps their character is too, and that having a vision is more than just having a plan or a goal... that it's also the ability to see God? What might God be telling you to do or giving you a vision for? Very challenging words today!

Dayana

Her name is Dayana Abigail, and she is one of nearly 500 orphans at Orphanage Emmanuel in Honduras. This little beauty recently came into our life as God laid it on our hearts to give and make a difference! Our church has become a dedicated partner with this Orphanage, going on trips, praying for them, and finding sponsors for about 63 children who are still unsupported. I am so excited to start sending her letters and gifts, sharing Christ's love with her, and watching her grow! She is about 2 years old and looks sweet as can be. Hopefully in the the next year or so, we may be able to take a trip and visit her.

If you would like to learn more about Orphanage Emmanuel, you can visit their site or ask me questions! There is so much to say about this place, but not nearly enough words. If you would like to sponsor a child, let me know! I will get you to the right place :)

9 Weeks

Today baby is 9 weeks, about 1" long (the size of a grape) and has all essential body parts accounted for. Baby's heart is almost fully finished dividing into four chambers and valves are forming. Amazing.

It's still so crazy to me. A little life is growing, and is part me/part the man I love. This little person has a soul, talents, hair and eye color are determined, the sound of their voice and gender... how wonderful to know that from day 1, all these things were knit together in the DNA code that God desired for this little one to have.

Praying for baby, that all is well and safe.

The Real Deal

I'm gonna get out two posts in one day! The steam is rolling... Wanted to add that one of my main purposes for this blog is to find like-minded readers/bloggers who have similar interests or great ideas on just about... everything! I am currently discovering/embarking on:

1) Eating more natural, farm-fresh, simple ingredient foods
2) Parenting (we have a little one on the way due 10/11/11)!
3) Building a godly foundation for marriage and the home
4) Living simple/Living on less... getting out of debt!
5) Finding new interests, enriching life

Above all, I am keeping myself accountable in all these areas—keeping my life and myself centered on Christ and what the Bible says about holy living. No unwholesome talk or tearing down. I value everyone's opinions, but will measure all things against the greatest standard. Life is a journey and there are so many good people to share it with. So, let the blogging commence! Comments, please :)

Intro

Sooo, after much thought and putting it off, I am resolving to stick to this blog! I LOVE reading blogs, catching up with old friends, finding new reads and inspiration, and most of all... having my own place for creativity and verbal catharsis! So, why such a funny name for a blog that has nothing to do with dogs!? Funny enough, I told my husband how much I loved my chihuahua, that I wanted to open a pet store for tiny breeds and call it the "Wet Nose Dog." Cute, right? Well, not that dreams can't come true, but let's face it... I doubt I will ever be a business owner of that magnitude, much less be able to sell puppies. I'm pretty sure I'd keep them all. However, I do find a lot of joy in the simple things. Sunny walks, "cookies," matching sweaters and such... This blog will have some funny in it, but also a lot of practical and serious, dabbled with creative. I really want this to be an "everything" blog. I think it will be better for me :) And hopefully, you too.
